Nephrostomy Tube
When it is not possible to address the underlying cause of a ureteral obstruction, performing a nephrostomy can provide temporary relief of hydronephrosis. In some cases, such as pyonephrosis, a nephrostomy itself can be a definitive remedy.
Details
Nephrostomy Catheters are made from a plastic polymer and feature a luer fitting at one end and a pigtail loop at the other. An inner metal stiffening cannula is used to facilitate placement. There is a locking self retention mechanism on sizes 6Fr and greater.
