Infiniti is proud to share that puppies are thriving after successful treatment of a congenital heart defect (PDA) using the Amplatz Canine Ductal Occluder (ACDO).
Following diagnosis of patent ductus arteriosus (PDA), two puppies required treatment for the congenital condition, in which a fetal blood vessel fails to close after birth, leaving an opening that can cause excessive blood flow to the lungs and lead to serious complications if left untreated. The dogs were treated using the ACDO, a minimally invasive device delivered via catheter that seals the opening in the heart and offers an alternative to open-heart surgery with reduced recovery time. They recently participated in a playdate in Los Angeles hosted by the healthcare company Abbott, the manufacturer of the ACDO, where they met kids who also had their PDAs closed.
